Remedial & Sports Massage

Massage is the manipulation of soft tissue for therapeutic benefit. Soft tissues are muscles, ligaments, tendons, joint capsules, connective tissue and skin.

Remedial Massage uses a variety of massage techniques to care for muscles, ligaments and tendons that can tighten and cause pain as a response to stress, poor posture or physical activities such as gardening and lifting.

Sports Massage is the manipulation, rehabilitation and management of muscles, ligaments and tendons that are susceptible to injury whilst training and participating in sport. You don’t have to be involved in sport to appreciate the benefits of Sports Massage.

Sports and Remedial Massage practitioners will advise you on strength and stretching exercises to help you reach your overall potential for well being.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage uses a variety of massage and relaxation techniques to promote a healthy pregnancy. Treatments are adjusted according to the musculoskeletal changes of the individual and normally begin after the first trimester.

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound therapy uses pulses of sound waves to penetrate the soft tissues to encourage the healing process. It is a painless therapy and can be used in conjunction with massage.

Is Your Massage Practitioner Safe and Competent?

It is important to ensure that your chosen Sports and Remedial Massage Practitioner has reached a suitable standard of education and belongs to a professional association. One such association is the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage.

Members of the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage abide by a Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct and a Code of Practice, and are all fully insured.

Skills are maintained and new skills developed following an individual programme of continuing professional development.
